The Instituto Cervantes was founded by Spanish law in 1991 and aims to spread the language and culture of Spain and the Spanish-speaking countries worldwide. With more than 100,000 students per year, the Instituto Cervantes is the largest international organization in the field of teaching the Spanish language worldwide. The Instituto Cervantes currently has more than 87 branches on five continents, with the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels being one of the most striking. The activities of the Instituto Cervantes are managed by representatives from the academic, cultural and literary world from Spain and Latin America. In Brussels, the institute collaborates with museums, galleries, the stage environment, publishing houses and other Brussels, Spanish and Latin American cultural institutions.
